FIS Snowboard World Cup back in Copper Mountain
From Dec 18-22, the penultimate halfpipe and slopestyle contests of the Olympic qualifier period will be staged at the 14th Sprint US Grand Prix.
Like last season, the oldest U.S. domestic snowboarding tour is once again part of the Olympic qualifier process as a FIS sanctioned event. It's reason enough for more than 200 riders from over 25 countries to compete in Colorado.
More than that, points are not only awarded for the FIS ranking list, but also for the World Snowboarding point list.
In addition, Local Organisers paid special attention on the slopestyle course which is a close replica of the one designed for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
The strong and deep field not only features the likes of last year's halfpipe contest winners Torah Bright (AUS) and Nathan Johnstone (AUS) but also Charles Guldemond (USA) and Jamie Anderson (USA) who ruled the slopestyle event last winter.
Riders like Shaun White (USA), Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI), Ayumu Hirano (JPN), Sven Thorgren (SWE), Mark McMorris (CAN), Billy Morgan (GBR) and Halldor Helgason (ISL) also shine on the men's field.
On the women's side, snowboarders to watch out for include Kelly Clark (USA), Elena Hight (USA), Spencer O'Brien (CAN), Enni Rukajarvi (FIN), Jenny Jones (GBR), Sina Candrian or Cheryl Maas (NED).
