Healey and Bastiaansen take first titles at 2015 junior worlds
In Yabuli, home of the first junior worlds in China, the third ones in Asia, the US rider stood out of the girl's slopestyle field earning 87.50 following the foot steps of her fellow countrywoman Hailee Mattingley who won last year in Valmalenco, Italy.
"I definitely gained a lot of experience competing in this event", Healey said.
Only Elli Pikkujamsa (FIN) came close to today's high with 72.50 earning her consecutive slopestyle silver while Chloe Sillieres (FRA), the 2013 silver medallist, jumped on the podium as third edging off her teammate Thalie Larochaix with one point.
In the men's competition, things got event closer. Bastiaansen just had that tiny bit of .25 more in story to relegate Carlos Garcia Knight (NZL, 88.00) to the second rank becoming the second ever Dutch rider since Joy Geenen (big air, 2005) to claim a junior worlds title.
"It's totally unbelievable," Bastiaansen explained to the media. "It was very cool to compete in Yabuli with the course being very nice."
Mikko Rehnberg (FIN, 82.25) rounded out the podium as third.
