Swiss freestyle snowboarder Michael Schaerer has to handle a huge setback being forced to take a long break due to injury.

The 19-year-old regular rider suffered a shoulder injury when he couldn't stick a rail trick in a training run at the slopestyle World Cup at Bokwang Phoenix Park, South Korea two weeks ago which turned out worse than expected.

After undergoing further MRI examinations back home in Switzerland at the Universitaetsklinik Balgrist the slopestyle specialist was diagnosed with a tendon rupture at his left shoulder joint.

He therefore will be sidelined from action for six to ninth months.
