Ryo Aono with highest score

Ryo Aono (JPN) was the high-flyer of today's men's halfpipe qualifiers for the season's 4th FIS Snowboard World Cup.

At the Olympic test event staged in the “Extreme Park” in Rosa Khutor, the 2009 FIS Snowboard World Champion earned 89.33 points in heat 3.

In heat 1 and 2, Christian Haller (SUI) and Scott Lago (USA) took the top seat with 87 points each.

Heat 4 was won by Gregory Bretz (USA) with 85 points.

The four top qualifiers are accompanied to the finals scheduled for Thursday, Feb 14, by heat runner-ups Dimi de Jong (NED), Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI), Nathan Johnstone (AUS) and Louie Vito (USA).

The twelve semi finalist who will battle for one of the four remaining spots in the finals of the top-12 tomorrow are:

Arthur Longo (FRA), Taku Hiraoka (JPN), Yiwei Zhang (CHN) from heat 1, Benjamin Farrow (USA), Kosuke Hosokawa (JPN), Lucien Koch (SUI) from heat 2, Johann Baisamy (FRA), Scott James (AUS), Filip Kavcic (SLO) from heat 3 and Ayunu Nedefuji (JPN), Nikita Avtaneev (RUS) as well as Ben Kilner (GBR) from heat 4.
