The last weekend brought the very last events of the season with the Swiss Nationals in the slopestyle and halfpipe event.

Isabel Derungs and Jan Scherrer came out successful in the slopestyle contest in Corvatsch, close to Silvaplana, edging off Jonas Bösinger and Carla Somaini to the second place.

Scherrer said after his perfect season ender: “The set-up was fantastic. It was one of the best courses ever in Switzerland. It was fun to ride.”

Maurice Thönen as well as Lia-Mara Bösch rounded out the podium as third.

In the halfpipe competition which took place one day later, 2014 Olympic Champion Iouri Podladtchikov met the expectations as pre-event favourite taking the Gold while reigning Junior World Champion Verena Rohrer clinched the women's event.

Silver went to Thomas Rüegg and Nadja Purtschert, Bronze to Scherrer and Ramona Petrig.

However, the weekend's focus wasn't only on the competition for national honours but also to bring pros and the youth together as the Swiss Freestyle Championships took place at the last stop of the Audi Snowboard Series.

As a result, Podladtchikov took his time to please all the kid's photo wishes and also told his story:

“16 years ago, I was inspired by Gian Simmen's Olympic Gold. I hope my result can be as motivating for the kids as Gians was for me back then.”
