The world's best snowboarders back at JAUerling
Friday, January 10, will mark a very special comeback. For the second time in history, the World Cup circuit will make a stop in the SPORT.LAND Lower Austria. After JAUerling had celebrated a fantastic debut as World Cup host two years, ago, the race hill is back on the map this season offering one of the last chances to qualify for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
“FIS, ÖSV and our snowboarders have kept the 2012 competition at JAUerling in good memories. I'm very happy that we will have another chance to present Lower Austria as home of big events this winter again and to draw attention to our very own athletes,” said Dr. Petra Bohuslav, a member of the Lower Austria Government.
Besides the international elite, national stars Marion Kreiner, JAUerling title defender and World Cup title winner Andreas Prommegger as well as local hero and four-time World Champion Benjamin Karl will fight for top results in the Wachau region next January again.
Two years ago, about 5,000 fans watched the parallel slalom finals live at site. In order to deliver an even better show to the audience, construction works are currently under way to provide better facilities and thus a better atmosphere for both, riders and spectators.
As a result, homeboy Benjamin Karl, who finished in eighth position in 2012 expressed his excitement: “Winning at JAUerling would be very special for me. The atmosphere is unique as the audience make the race hill a bubbling cauldron. I'm proud to be from Lower Austria due to this event.”
