Bernard and Anai claim FIS Junior Worlds Halfpipe title

Gold for French and Japanese riders

Emma Bernard (FRA) and Ikko Anai (JPN) have won the Gold medal in the halfpipe contest of the 13th FIS Snowboard World Championships in Erzurum, Turkey, today.

Bernard, an 18-years-old rider with a second place finish in the World Cup (Ruka, FIN, December 2011) to her belt, edged off Verena Rohrer from Switzerland and her team mate Lucile Lefevre (FRA) to the second and third spot respectively.

On the men's side, 15-years-old young gun Anai, who had competed in just four FIS races and two National Championships so far came out first on the men's side.

Dethroned 2012 Halfpipe Junior World Champion Tim-Kevin Ravnjak (SLO) finished in the runner-up position.

Switzerland's Lucien Koch rounded out the podium as third bringing home Bronze.


The Junior World Championships continue with the slopestyle qualifiers women and men tomorrow with the finals scheduled for Sunday, March 10th.
