Shuang Li (CHN) is on fire. After winning her career's first World Cup event in Ruka, Finland, a few days ago, the 21-year-old shredder was able to keep the momentum and nailed a perfect run in the finals of the 2013 Winter Universiade currently staged at Trentino.

Li earned a total of 91 points for her winning run, edging teammates Sun Zhifeng (CHN, 80.25) and Xu Xiujun (CHN, 76.75) who rounded out the podium of the halfpipe event in Monte Bondone.

“I wasn't sure if I could take the win although I was hoping for it,” said the new student champion who claimed Silver in Turkey two years ago. Carla Somaini (SUI) was the best ranked European female finishing in fifth position.

Ruben Verges (SPA) clinched the men's contest with 88.75 points ahead of Hu Yi (CHN, 84.25) and Rafael Imhof (SUI, 76).

“I was hoping for Gold but my rivals have been strong. I have to thank everyone, my family, country and sponsors,” the World Cup experienced rider said.
