Three medals at the 2013 medals highlight of last winter

Having achieved one Gold and two Bronze medals at the 2013 FIS Snowboard World Championships plus a total of eleven top-6 results in the past World Cup season including two wins, the German Snowboard Federation (SVD) offered a positive summary of the last winter.

“We achieved all of our goals which might have been very optimistic in the beginning of the season. But due to the great work of Isabella Laboeck (Gold PGS) and Amelie Kober (Bronze PGS and PSL) we were able to celebrate the three World Championships medals we had been aiming for,” said Sports Director Stefan Knirsch.

“In addition we also had some great results in the World Cup despite the early loss of SBX riders Davis Speiser and Maximilian Stark due to injury.”

Association President Prof. Hanns-Michael Hoelz added: “The results proved that we are on the right way and can look positive into the next preparation months.”

Especially as at least David Speiser and Silvia Mittermueller should be back on track soon coming back from shoulder injuries.

In addition, Germany's up-and-coming talents also impressed according to Hoelz: “Paul Berg established himself in the SBX World Cup tour while Stefan Baumeister brought home an incredible FIS Junior Worlds title.”
