McManiman and Gallagher wins Junior halfpipe nationals

histler, BC and Derek Livingston from Aurora, ON claimed their second straight halfpipe canadian title during the 2013 Sport Chek Snow Crown – Canadian Snowboard Freestyle Championships presented by Sony on March 15.

Nicoll who’s a two time Olympian is always a contender in any event and she consolidated this statement by taking first place with the most technical run of the day. Katie Tsuyuki from Squamish, BC climbed on the second step of the podium followed by the best trick winner Alex Duckworth from Kingsbury, NS.

On the men side, Livingston proved he was the best rider that day throwing smooth and technical runs all day, rewarding him with the crown and the best trick with his backside 900. Brad Martin from Ancaster, ON took second while Crispin Lipscomb from Whistler, BC came in third position.

“I’m pretty happy to have landed a run and beaten Brad for a second time! It’s my second time of the podium at National. Twice in a row, it’s pretty awesome and I’m really stoked right now, “ said Livingston joking about his friend and teammate Brad Martin.

The junior nationals were also held earlier today during the Snow Crown showcasing some of the best up and comers Canada has to offer. Audrey McManiman from St-Ambroise de Kildare, QC and Jam Gallagher from Calgary, AB stoled the show and took the first places.

Joining McManiman on the podium, Dallas Rourke from Windsor, NS took second place followed by Kristy Macdonald from Banff, AB in third.

“It’s really fun, It’s the second time in a row that I won the junior halfpipe. I’m ready for Open halfpipe tonight and slopestyle tomorrow,“ said McManiman.

On the men’s front, Michael Izzard from Oakville, ON and Justin DeCastris from Châteauguay, QC joined Gallagher in second and third place respectively.
