FIS Marathon Cup athletes compete “Clean as Snow”

The world's best long distance skiers racing in the FIS Marathon Cup showed their commitment to the FIS “Clean as Snow” campaign.

On 27th January 2013, more than 60 "Clean as Snow" buffs were distributed to the best male and female FIS Marathon Cup athletes during the 40th edition of the famous Worldloppet race of Marcialonga (ITA, 70km CT), which passes, besides other places, through the venues of this year's FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme (ITA). Eager to show the world, that also they are against doping, many athletes raced with the buff the next day.

The idea to integrate the FIS Marathon Cup and its athletes in the "Clean as Snow" campaign was born after some discussion with the best athletes. Some were concerned about the image of long distance skiing to ensure a good and clean image of the discipline.

By wearing the "Clean as Snow" buffs, a clear statement shall be transmitted: FIS Marathon Cup athletes are against doping! Performance enhacing substances do not have a place in long distance skiing and racing in the FIS Marathon Cup is as “Clean as Snow”!
