Passing of Cross-Country legend Sixten Jernberg

A true ski legend, the four-time Olympic medalist and four-time world champion Sixten Jernberg passed away last weekend in Mora (SWE) at the age of 83.

During his successful career, Sixten Jernberg collected a total of 15 medals from the Olympic Winter Games and World Championships and won the famous Scandinavian Cross-Country ski marathon “Vasaloppet” between 1955 and 1960. At the Olympic Games in 1956, 1960 and 1964, he celebrated his biggest victories by winning gold twice in 50 km, 30km and the relay. In addition, Sixten Jernberg scored gold in the 1958 and 1962 World Championships both in the 50 km and relay competitions.
