FIS Aid & Promotion Alpine Training Camp
A total of 18 young athletes from Argentina, Brazil and Chile recently participated in a 30 day training camp in Cerro Castor (ARG), the world’s southernmost ski resort. Starting on 7th July, the weather conditions provided favorable training options this year due to continual snowfalls in June and July.
Under the framework of the FIS Aid & Promotion program, the training camp in Argentina is conducted on a yearly basis, carrying a social component by uniting young athletes from the three National Ski Associations for an entire month. While the morning sessions contained on-snow training, the afternoons featured dry land sessions in the gym or outside in Ushuaia.
Following the training camp, the South American Cup (SAC) kicked off on 2nd August in Cerro Castor (ARG) and will continue until mid-August. The competition series provides the younger athletes with an opportunity to gain high-level competition experience and is a first stepping stone into the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup.
