Aid & Promotion and FIS Solidarity
The Aims of FIS Development
According to the Statutes: http://www.fis-ski.com/uk/rulesandpublications/fisgeneralrules/statutes.html; of the International Ski Federation (FIS), one of the fundamental aims is "to promote the sport of skiing and to supervise and direct the development of all skiing activities” The philosophy of the International Ski Federation is that money should be raised for the sport, not from the sport.
FIS endeavours to provide support to develop activities through various different means: a) By providing direct financial support to the FIS member National Ski Associations. b) Through the Aid & Promotion Programme for developing ski nations which is financed by the registration fees from Candidates for FIS World Championships and provides seminars, training camps, courses and other specific organised activities. c) Through FIS Solidarity which was established by FIS in 2002 as a fund to support special projects that are designed to progress the sport.
