FIS expresses deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Claus Peter Horle and Fredrik Karlsson who passed away within the last week.
The long-time first Chairman and honorary president of Ski Club Oberstdorf Claus Peter Horle passed away after serious illness. Pe Horle led Ski Club Oberstdorf for 37 years during which they organized numerous FIS World Cups in Cross-Country Skiing, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined, as well as the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 and 2005.
Pe Horle was a role model, a personality and a great friend of skiing who will be sorely missed.
The Swedish Cross-Country skier Fredrik Karlsson died in a snowmobile accident in Bruksvallsfjällen last Thursday; he was 27 years old. A member of the Swedish national team member, Fredrik Karlsson was won both national and Scandinavian Cup competitions this season. Only two weeks ago Karlsson, together with Daniel Richardsson and Fredrik Jonsson won the team relay at the Swedish Championships. He was also member of Sweden's development squad "Team 2015".
