Telemark Skiing

Telemark skiing is an allround multiskiing discipline with telemark turns, skating sections and jumps. The turns are performed in telemark style, named after a region in Norway where the skiing pioneer Sondre Norheim founded the turn more than one hundred years ago.

The official FIS disciplines are Telemark Classic (T-CL) and Telemark Classic Sprint (T-SP), both with telemark turns, jumps and a skating section, long and short version. The third official is Telemark Giant Slalom (T-GS), where the telemark turn is used in a course similar in many respects to GS races in other disciplines, with a jump added.
