Panathlon Club visits FIS Office The FIS Office in Oberhofen (SUI) had the honor of hosting the members of the Bernese Oberland section of Panathlon International (PI) on Tuesday evening. FIS President Gian Franco Kasper chaired the May gathering of the regional organization at Lake Thun. The Panathlon International is the umbrella organization of the Panathlon clubs that seek to use sport as a means to education and solidarity among people. The first Panathlon club was founded on 12th June 1951 in Venice. Today there are some 280 member clubs with estimated 13‘000 members in 24 nations in Europe, Americas and Asia. Panathlon International is recognized by the International Olympic Committee and member of SportAccord, The International Committee for Fair Play, the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the European Association of National Olympic Committee among other organizations. |
