Alpine TDs updated with help of video cases

Alpine TDs updated with help of video cases

Last weekend saw the final three of a total of 17 annual FIS Alpine Technical Delegate training sessions take place in Stressa (ITA), Madrid (SPA) and Berchtesgaden (GER). The TD training update is a requirement for all active TDs for maintaining their certification. Beginning in New Zealand and Chile in July, all 430 FIS Alpine TDs received an update on precisions to the rules and changes. New this year, most of the case studies and examples were discussed with the help of video materials which allowed for detailed illustration and in-depth discussion on the topics in focus.

Again this year, some 30 candidates successfully took their TD exams, passing one of the main hurdles for helping to organize the Alpine races on the international FIS calendar. Each will now be required to pass a practical examination on the slope.

The TD update and education sessions in 17 countries would not be possible without the enthusiastic collaboration of the TD Commissioners and their National Ski Associations. At each update a TD Commissioner is on site to help the local Organizer with the written exams and running the update - great thanks to all!
