Erik Rřste new president in Norway

Erik Rřste new president in Norway

The Norwegian Ski Association held its general assembly, the so-called Skitinget, in Hamar from 14th-17th June. The first two days were reserved for discipline specific meetings whilst the actual assembly took place on Saturday and Sunday.

One of the main decisions of the Skitinget was the election of Erik Røste (52) as the new President of the association, succeeding FIS Vice President, Sverre K. Seeberg.

“I stand here today with a great deal of humility. I thank you all sincerely for your trust. I accept this challenge from the heart but it feels like sitting on the bar ready to jump after Wirkola. If it is ever appropriate to say this, then today. But someone has to take this challenge and I am very much looking forward to this,” commented Røste following his election.

Erik Røste has served as Vice President in the NSF for the past four years, but has 35 years of experience in skiing. Kristin Vestgren Sæterøy (42) was elected as new Vice President. The Skitinget also confirmed a strategy document extending until 2016 which sets a clear course for the NSF in the future.
