Ski season continues with fresh snowfall The Easter weekend marked the closure of the season for many ski resorts. The weather gods however seem to think otherwise with snowfall over the weekend and more fresh snow falling in Europe mid-week. Besides the resorts remaining open into May and June, several areas around the Alps are extending seasons as a consequence. Especially some high glacier areas have seen significant snowfall over the Easter holidays. In Sölden some one meter of new snow has arrived in the last five days, with 20cm on Tuesday alone. Thanks to great snow conditions, Kitzbühel has announced an extension of season until 1st May and Dachstein Glacier is reporting a snow depth of 570cm on the summit. It has also snowed heavily in Switzerland, including 42cm in Andermatt, 40 cm in Crans Montana and Engelberg which continues to post the highest snow depth with 595cm.
