Ladies Ski Jumping season closes in Japan

Ladies Ski Jumping season closes in Japan

The ladies FIS Continental Cup in Ski Jumping conclude this week in Zao (JPN). Yuki Ito (JPN) - bronze medalist at this year's Junior World Championships in Otepää (EST) won the last competition on Wednesday. She claimed her first career COC victory ahead of Jacqueline Seifriedsberger (AUT) and Maja Vtic (SLO). The season finals on Thursday were cancelled due to inclement weather.

The overall Continental Cup ranking was won prior to the final competitions in Japan by 2011 world champion Daniela Iraschko (AUT) ahead of another Oslo 2011 medalist Coline Mattel (FRA), both of whom did not compete in the Far East. Iraschko hurt her knee at the competitions in Zakopane which forced her to skip the events in Ramsau before the Oslo World Championships. Thanks to 10 season victories, her rankings lead withstood the challenge from the competitors, and she even recovered to claim the well-deserved world title in Oslo along with her 2nd back-to-back COC crown. The season 2011/12 will see the introduction of the ladies FIS Ski Jumping World Cup tour.
