One of best seasons for Brazilian skiing

The past season was one of the best seasons for Brazilian skiing. In fact the 2010/2011, season broke all records in Brazilian participation in FIS World Championships and other official competitions. Especially the Brazilian participation in the World Championships 2011 deserves to be highlighted since for the first time Brazil participated with 17 athletes in 30 competitions.

In Oslo, at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, the Brazilian Cross-Country athletes broke records. In a historical achievement, Jaqueline Mourao and Mirlene Picin qualified as first Brazilian skiers achieved top ten results in the qualification race to make the final 10km distance race for the ladies.

At the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER) five Brazilians competed. Jhonatan Longi made the cut to represent Brazil in the finals of the men's slalom and giant slalom events, a historical first since the qualification race was implemented. The country was also represented by a young team at the FIS Junior Alpine World Ski Championships in Crans-Montana (SUI).

In Snowboarding, Isabel Clark and Marcus Vinicus Batista set new personal and national records with their results in the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup tour and the FIS Snowboard World Championships in La Molina (SPA). Moreover, in Deer Valley, the ski cross title competitions at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championship saw a Brazilian debut at the highest level.
