First IOC Coordination Commission for PyeongChang 2018
The first IOC Coordination Commission inspection visit for PyeongChang 2018 is presently under way led by Commission chair Gunilla Lindberg and with participation of FIS President Gian Franco Kasper.
PyeongChang won 2018 hosting rights at the IOC Session in Durban last July, and the OCOG was formed in December. The first meeting focuses on becoming acquainted with the new leadership and reviewing the work in progress to develop the venue concept and other areas presented in the bid book following the IOC's orientation seminar in the city last August.
The three-day inspection visit began on Tuesday and will see presentations from POCOG leaders, government officials and Olympic stakeholders as well as a venue tour focused on the scope and timetable of venue and transport construction and renovation plans. The IOC concludes its visit on Thursday.
