FIS AC wishes success to London athletes
As the Olympic flame has been lit on 27th July, the FIS Athletes’ Commission wishes success to all competing athletes in the London Olympic Games to achieve their sporting goals.
“We all know what it is like to compete in Olympic Games and experience its fascination. It requires major preparation and concentration to mobilize your strength for this one special moment. We wish all athletes who are participating great performances and joy”, says Kilian Albrecht, Chair of the FIS Athletes’ Commission.
As the Olympics are underway, four new members will be elected to the IOC Athletes’ Commission. Formed in 1981, the Commission represents the athletes within the Olympic Movement, and upholds their rights and obligations.
Also the FIS Athletes´ Commission is looking ahead to new elections in the different FIS World Championships in 2013.
Kilian Albrecht underlines: “Next season will see elections of new members of the FIS Athletes’ Commission by their peers at each World Championship. We would like to encourage athletes in each of the FIS discipline to stand in as candidates and continue our successful work of the past years. As a link between active athletes and FIS, the Commission represents a platform for making your voices heard!”
The FIS Athletes’ Commission was introduced in 1996 and is currently composed of 12 athletes representing the six FIS disciplines on the program of the Olympic Winter Games.
Final information about the eligibility of candidates and the procedure for the elections will be published after the FIS Council Meeting in early November 2012.
