Schladming 2013 celebrates 100-day milestone

Schladming 2013 celebrates 100-day milestone

“Since Alpine Skiing is the number one sport in Austria, these World Championships will be a very successful event featuring a special charm”, acknowledged the Croatian champion Ivica Kostelic, whilst US star Lindsey Vonn is already looking forward to “a great fan atmosphere”.

Staging the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Austria guarantees big crowds of fans, VIPs and numerous festivities round the clock. This is why the skiing circuit is already looking forward to the highlight of the 2012/13 season set to be held from 4th to 17th February 2013 - in just less than 100 days.
In conjunction with the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Opening, Schladming 2013 celebrated its 100-day milestone on 26th October 2012 in Soelden (AUT) where the Austrian Ski Association and the World Championship partners Steiermark Tourismus, Gösser and Münze Österreich invited to a Styrian evening.

A special highlight was the presentation of the official 5-Euro silver coin specifically designed for the World Championships. The coin showing a skier in front of the Skygate and the Planai skiing slope carrying the numbers 2013 in the form of a podium will be an official means of payment in Austria with 50,000 pieces produced.

Besides the coin, the “Gösser WM Gold” beer was introduced with the support of Hans Knauss, Harti Weirather and Michael Walchhofer. The “honorary brewer” for the World Championships, Gösser has developed special sorts of beer which will be available from mid-November exclusively in gastronomy.
As the event is coming closer, further 3.500 additional tickets in the Orange category have been made available for purchase.
