LG Snowboard FIS World Cup launches in NZL

The opening of the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup will this year return to New Zealand. After a year's break, the Southern hemisphere will again see the world's best riders in the halfpipe at the Cardrona Alpine Resort on 27th-28th August 2011.

The fourth edition of FIS World Cup halfpipe competition in New Zealand after 2007, 2008 and 2009 will bring a top level starting field for the 100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games. Led by the reigning Australian world champions Holly Crawford and Nathan Johnstone, the world's leading boarders confirmed to start down under include Switzerland's Iouri Podladtchikov, Patrick Burgener and Christian Haller, Ryo Aono of Japan, the recent winner of the New Zealand Open, along with Norwegians Staale Sandbech and Tore Holvik and Finns Antti Autti and Janne Korpi, just to mention a few. On the ladies side, 2011 World Cup champion Xuetong Cai will be challenged by Linn Haug (NOR), Haruna Matsumoto (JPN) and Hannah Teter (USA), for example.

Besides the highly attractive competitions, the World Cup opening and the NZ Winter Games will offer an extensive program of activity including big air events and rail sessions. For more information, click here.
