Ski Jumping: New Jumping suits

Ski Jumping: New Jumping suits

In Ski Jumping, the meetings during the FIS Congress 2012 in Korea saw some modifications for both the ladies’ and men’s events. In order to ensure safety and fairness, a change of the in-run length in the middle of a competition round in competitions where the wind/gate compensation system is in use was approved. Besides the Jury, also head coaches may reduce the in-run for their individual athletes.

On the ladies’ Ski Jumping side, the use of large hills was approved for the World Cup Final. This new rule will also apply in other competitions where the starting field is limited to the top 30 athletes in the current World Cup rankings. In addition, the ladies’ Body Mass Index (BMI) has been increased to 21 and is now the same as for men.

With regards to ski jumping suits, the new regulations for closer fitting suits were approved for both ladies and men.

Furthermore, the use of an artificial in-run track in winter competitions for exceptional cases was accepted.
