One minute of silence for victims in Norway

One minute of silence for victims in Norway

FIS sends its deepest sympathy for the immense tragedy to the nation of Norway and all those who are impacted by the disaster. Our thoughts, empathy and care belong to all affected persons, families, friends and relatives.

The Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports have encouraged all organizers of sports events to have a minute of silence before the competitions take place. In the coming days, many sports events in Norway have been or will be cancelled due to the disaster on Utøya and in Oslo.

After the tragedy hit Norway on Friday 21st July, the organizers of the traditional roller skiing competitions known as the Blink Ski Festival in Sandnes chose to cancel their event. Norwegian athletes participating in international competitions last weekend wore a black arm band to show their sympathy for the victims.
