Vail-Beaver Creek 2015 - Dream It! Live It! Share It! The Coordination Group for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2015 met for the third time in Vail / Beaver Creek (USA) in conjunction with the Audi FIS Ski World Cup races last week, followed by a formal overview meeting on Monday, 5th December. To the satisfaction of the representatives of FIS, Vail Beaver Creek 2015 Executive Committee, United States Ski and Snowboard Association, European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and its marketing agency Tridem Sports the organizing team led by Ceil Folz could present significant progress and tick off various early milestones over the last six months. These include the finalization of the Championship venue plan with Vail's Golden Peak hosting the nations' team event, progress with the planning and permits for the new ladies' courses, detailed work to develop the plans for the finish area at Red Tail, as well as the national sponsoring concept. Another initial focus area has been that of television coverage where a tender for the host broadcaster services will be released by the end of the year. The motto of the 2015 event has been defined as "Dream It! Live It! Share It!" which will be further developed through the corporate identity, promotion/communication and technology concepts, among other aspects. With 1153 days to go until the Championship that will take place from 3rd-15th February 2015 the Vail / Beaver Creek team is making solid progress with the conceptual planning phase and gained substantial experience with another edition of the challenging Birds of Prey World Cup races, this time also including the ladies' first showing on the (in)famous course. Sarah Lewis, FIS Secretary General was enthusiastic about the days in Vail and Beaver Creek: "The strides made by the Organizing Committee especially over the past six months are impressive and the enthusiasm for the Championships throughout the community is noticeable. It was particularly useful to combine the meetings with the World Cup races, in order to get a true picture of the planned infrastructure in its winter environment." |
