Ladies Ski Jumping: Overall winner Hendrickson
The American teenager has already won in Hinterzarten, in Val di Fiemme (2), in Ljubno (2), in Zao (2) and comes to the Midtstubakken (Oslo) as overall FIS Ski Jumping World Cup winner to that hill, where the young athlete was 16th at the World Championships about a year ago and didn't attract a lot of attention back then.
And now she is the center of attention and it's almost too much. She jumps 104 m in the first round and has a clear lead of twelve points. Japanese Sara Takanashi showed the longest jump of the day with 108 m in the final. But at the end the Asian is second, ahead of Anette Sagen and the World Champions Lindsey Van (2009) and Daniela Iraschko (2011) came in fourth and fifth.
The teenager, you know it, is Sarah Hendrickson. What you don't know is that the High School graduate is as confident and cool off the hill as she is during her performances on the hill. TV interviews, photo-shooting, mixed-zone interviews, press conference: the hours after her final jump were more intense than some of the competition days.
"I'm very satisfied with how the season went - it was better than I could've imagined in my wildest dreams", she said. "When I landed the final jump I realized that the season is now over. It will definitely be one to remember."
