Anti-Doping program focus on out-of-competition

FIS continues to fight cheating through doping in the sport of skiing and snowboarding with out-of-competition testing remaining a major focus of the FIS Anti-Doping program.

During the 2011/2012 competition season, FIS performed as many as 2'531 out-of-competition tests, including blood and urine tests (244 with EPO analysis) as well as blood passport samples.

These numbers include the pre-competition blood controls that were carried out at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships.

Additionally 316 in-competition tests were completed by FIS at World Cup events, whereby 170 samples were additionally analyzed for EPO.

In addition, a large number of doping controls were carried out by the National Anti-Doping Agencies both in- and out-of-competition.
