SportAccord Convention turns 10 - International Convention in Quebec City

The SportAccord Convention celebrates its past and looks ahead to the future as its 10th anniversary event is underway in Quebec City, Canada. Taking place from 20th to 25th May 2012, “A Decade of Change, A Future of Promise” is the central theme of the week.

Originally launched in 2003, the annual convention is held in a different country each year and encompasses the Congress and General Assemblies of over 100 International Sports Federations and their related Associations. The six-day gathering offers more than 1500 representatives from international sport an opportunity to network, share knowledge and develop ideas on broadening sport’s collective endeavors.

New at this year’s convention, FIS along with more than 12 other International Federations will be featured in the so-called Sports Demo Zone. The FIS sports demo will include an interactive session with the reigning downhill world champion Erik Guay and FIS Cross-Country World Cup podium winner Alex Harvey who will be interviewed by Radio-Canada journalist Marc Durand and a speed ski racer-turn ski crosser, Louis-Pierre Hèlie. The session will see various audio-visual content to highlight the challenges and unique features of the different aspects of skiing and will conclude with a demo where Alex Harvey will teach Erik Guay the secrets of roller skiing.
