Grand Prix concludes in Hinzenbach, Klingenthal

Just two events remain on the FIS Grand Prix 2011 calendar this summer. On Saturday, 1st October 2011, the world's best ski jumpers will return to competition in Hinzenbach (AUT) after a training break during the month of September, while the final will be held in Klingenthal (GER) on 3rd October.

Hinzenbach, located close to Linz on the Danube, is making its debut at the top level of competition on a brand new hill. "In Austria, Hinzenbach is a real Ski Jumping Mecca, and home to many of the former and current stars, including Andreas Goldberger, Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and Michael Hayböck. With the FIS Grand Prix competitions, the venue is celebrating its premiere in the summer series which will be followed by its hosting of the ladies' Ski Jumping World Cup this winter," commented Walter Hofer, FIS Ski Jumping Race Director.

The crème de la crème of Ski Jumping is expected to be at the start. Last winter's and this summer's dominator Thomas Morgenstern will be joined by teammate Gregor Schlierenzauer along with Martin Schmitt (GER) and Kamil Stoch (POL), just to mention a few top names. All in all, 17 nations are fielding a team. The organizers are expecting some 10'000 spectators for the weekend event.

With a maximum of 200 points still up for grabs, Thomas Morgenstern leads the FIS Grand Prix rankings by 151 points. In the 11 competitions so far, he has collected 580 points while second-ranked Tom Hilde of Norway has 429 points. Kamil Stoch is currently sitting in 3rd with 389 points. Morgenstern last competed in mid-August in Einsiedeln, but then skipped the Asian tour with two competitions in Hakuba (JPN) and the premiere in Almaty (KAZ) at the end of August.
