Morgenstern claims third Grand Prix title
The traditional FIS Grand Prix in Ski Jumping culminated with the final competitions in Hinzenbach (AUT) on Saturday and Klingenthal (GER) on Monday. With Kamil Stoch, a Polish jumper emerged as the last winner of the summer series in 2011. The 24 year-old who already won the World Cup on the same hill in February also captured victory in the "Vogtland-Arena" in Saxonia on the Day of German Reunification. However, it was Thomas Morgenstern (AUT) who won the overall ranking of the FIS GP with 620 points. He already confirmed the title, his third summer series after 20xx and 20xx, at the second-to-last competition in Hinzenbach. Kamil Stoch finished second (505 points), ahead of Tom Hilde (NOR, 443 points) and Gregor Schlierenzauer (AUT, 400 points).
With 279.3 points it was a clear victory for Kamil Stoch ahead of Gregor Schlierenzauer (254.1 points) in the last competition. The new young Polish star Stoch participated in eight competitions this summer and was on the podium six times - a great streak. "I'm satisfied with the performance today and with my shape. I showed normal jumps today and I have a good feeling on this hill," said the winner.
"I'm not satisfied with my performance, but I'm satisfied with the podium result", said Schlierenzauer who drew a positive balance after the GP. "The summer was okay for me, I was on the podium in every competition I participated in. It's good to know that everything is working well for me. I will continue focusing on myself and not on the competition with Thomas and Kamil."
The third place went to - as in Hinzenbach - Czech Roman Koudelka (251.4 points), who can really look forward to the upcoming season with results like these. "This hill is unbelievable; I’ve never had such a good feeling here. But everything is possible in this sport. Somebody else can be better tomorrow."
