New Sub-Committee Chairman – Hans-Martin Renn
Following the FIS Congress in Kangwonland (KOR), the FIS Council appointed several new Sub-Committee Chairmen. FIS Newsflash is pleased to present their initial thoughts in the coming weeks as they embark on their new tasks for the 2012-2014 period.
Hans-Martin Renn, Sub-Committee Chairmen for Jumping Hills:
“Here I am as Sub-Committee Chairmen for jumping hills. For me, this opportunity came about within a short period of time, from zero to one hundred, as some of my colleagues from the Committee can attest.
I am looking forward to this new task, and hoping to be and become a good Chairman. I would already like to pronounce my thanks to all who have supported me. Certainly, the transition from my predecessor Wolfgang Happle to myself will not be seamless given that his forty years of experience and network of contacts are both significant. I would like to take this opportunity to wish him all the best, good health and many opportunities to use his spare time for new activities.
Regarding our future tasks within the Sub-Committee for jumping hills, the next years will bring about interesting challenges. Ski Flying will become increasingly important. Perhaps, there will be further discussions about the wind nets and about changing the hill parameters. Despite these discussions, safety for both male and female ski jumpers remains our highest priority.
Next to taking care of ski jumping hills, I have been happily married for 18 years and we have a 16-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son and employ seven people in my architect’s office in Sonthofen (GER). If I am not entirely consumed by work, I really enjoy biking. This photo was taken at Mallorca (SPA) searching for a good jumping hill. So far, I haven’t found any, but what isn’t yet may still be.“
