First Aid & Promotion Alpine Camp in Hintertux

First Aid & Promotion Alpine Camp in Hintertux

From 28th June to 4th July 2009, 47 participants from 18 developing ski nations took part in this season's first FIS Aid & Promotion Alpine Training camp in Hintertux (AUT). Despite the unseasonal weather with fog and rain nearly all week, the participants had successful training especially slalom and giant slalom on the glacier in the morning and dry land sessions in a sport hall or outside on a sports ground in the afternoon.

"It was a great and successful week in Hintertux. Every day we were able to see the steps which the athletes took after training hard in optimal surroundings while having a great time with each other," said Markus Malsiner, FIS Alpine Training Camp Coordinator. "Guided by eight coaches and other staff, we were able to provide the athletes with a good and efficient training program throughout the week."

After the evaluation week in Hintertux, several athletes will be selected for the next training period starting in October, which will focus on the final preparation for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver (CAN).
