Wonderful atmosphere at the Crans-Montana 100 Memorial

Wonderful atmosphere at the Crans-Montana 100 Memorial

The successful centenary celebration for the world's first significant downhill race in Crans-Montana took place under the patronage of Hublot and the six communities located on the high plateau, as well as with the support of FIS and Swiss-Ski on 2nd April. 60 highly motivated teams (with three, four or five participants) yielded a total of 266 racers for the Memorial staged in the honor of the ski pioneers. All the competitors appeared in historical clothing and equipment from the early days of ski racing and were welcomed in the finish area of the Piste Nationale by a large crowd of spectators. President of the Organizing Committee Marius Robyr thanked and praised the highly engaged participation by the teams at the concluding festivities.

As 100 years ago, when the downhill race at the Plaine-Morte was not timed, a jury consisting of eight persons evaluated the clothing, the material, the ski style and the team spirit of the competitors. The winners of the 100 Memorial were found in Team „Tagwohl" (Markus Murmann, Ewald Steiner, Pierre-Yves Mérieult and Pierre Bagnoud), followed by Team « Mitchafo » (Mylène Théodoloz, Sophie Genoud, Mathieu Gasser). And Team « Les Revenants » (Jean-Yves Rey, Jean-Daniel Masserey, Florent Troillet, Pierre-Marie Taramarcaz, Guy Richard).
