2011 Alpine Training Camp program in final phases

2011 Alpine Training Camp program in final phases

Exactly 20 nations and a total of 37 athletes participated in the 2011 edition of the FIS Alpine Training Camp program under the Aid & Promotion framework. The program began already on 26th September with the first on-snow sessions on the glacier in Mölltal (AUT), followed by training camps in the valley of Tux, Pitztal, Schnalstal and Sulden. The program further included some five-day dry land training camps in South Tyrol (ITA). The athletes were divided into three groups and led by a total of eight coaches, fitness coaches and support staff.

The athletes in the program are aged 15-18 years and have qualification for the Winter Youth Olympic Games in January 2012 in Innsbruck as their main season goal. This high goal is the reason for the very intensive training and the high level of excitement. After a short break at the end of October, training began anew on 6th November and the athletes are now impatiently waiting for their first competitions. The 2nd phase will conclude on 18th December at the SES Cup events in Speikboden in South Tyrol where two giant slalom and two slaloms are scheduled. Early January will then see the final phase of preparations before the YOG in Innsbruck and other competitions around Europe.
