Congress 2012: Finalists for 2nd FIS SnowKidz Award selected

The 48th FIS Congress in Kangwonland (KOR) will see the presentation of the second FIS SnowKidz Award launched to recognize and promote the best examples of bringing children to the snow in varying national circumstances.

The FIS Member National Ski Associations were invited to submit their projects to compete for the award. A total of 21 applications from 21 National Ski Associations were received with 8 applications coming from Aid & Promotion developing ski nations.

With only a few days remaining until the 2012 FIS Congress, the SnowKidz Awards jury has completed its task of selecting the eight finalists. The jury, consisting of Satu Kalajainen (FIN), representing the FIS Youth & Children's' Coordination Group, Antoine Goetschy, the head of the Youth Olympic Games at the IOC, and Riet R Campell (SUI), President of International Ski Instructors' Association, has selected the following projects for the final round (in alphabetical order of the NSA):

  • DSV Schoolsport Concept (GER)
  • Everyone on Snow (SWE)
  • Five Days of Snow and Fun (PAK)
  • Kids on Snow (BEL)
  • Snow Camp (GBR)
  • Snow Day Every Day (BLR)
  • SnowKidz Czech Republic (CZE)
  • School Marathon in Pokljuka (SLO)

The selection of the top three will be made in Korea by the FIS Council and there will be an exhibition with each of the projects throughout the Congress week to display their excellent activities and the winners will be presented with their prizes during the official dinner on Wednesday, 30th May.. All finalists will receive an award of CHF 5'000, with the top 3 receiving additional CHF 10'000, 8'000, 5'000, for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
