Decisions of the Congress: Two new members elected to FIS Council, FIS Membership grows to 115

In conjunction with the FIS Congress, held on 1st June 2012 in Kangwonland (KOR), the FIS General Assembly received updates and reports from the FIS World Championships organizers – past and future – along with reviewing FIS’s finances and making several important decisions.

The election of the members of the FIS Council saw voting among 19 candidates for the 16 positions; the new Council comprises the following individuals during the upcoming two-year period 2012-2014 with two new members Andrey Bogarev (RUS) and Flavio Roda (ITA) (in alphabetical order):

Alfons Hörmann (GER)
Janez Kocijancic (SLO)
Roman Kumpost (CZE)

Eduardo Roldan (SPA)
Peter Schröcksnadel (AUT)
Sverre Seeberg (NOR)
Patrick Smith (CAN)
Matti Sundberg (FIN)
Michel Vion (FRA)

Long-term FIS Council members Yoshiro Ito (JPN) and Pablo Rosenkjer (ARG) were named FIS Honorary Members.

Furthermore, the Congress affiliated Eritrea, Haiti, British Virgin Islands, Palestine and Togo as associate members of the International Ski Federation, whilst Montenegro became a full member with one vote. The total number of members in the International Ski Federation now amounts to 115.
