Alpine Junior World Ski Championships to kick off in Québec, Canada

From 18th to 28th February, the 31st edition of the FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships will showcase the world junior elite of ski racing in two resorts of the greater Québec City area, Mont Saint-Anne and Le Massif. The ten-day event will see the mountains east of the Canadian Rockies glitter, with 250 youngsters from more than 50 nations competing in slalom, giant slalom, super-G, downhill, and the parallel team event. The medal competitions will kick off with the ladies GS on 21st February and conclude with the ladies super-G on the 27th.

The Charlevoix, which is maintained and used by the Canadian National Training Centre, has successfully played host to downhill and super-G races for seven major events since 2001. Among them the FIS Super Series, North American Cup races in 2002 and 2003, and the Alpine Junior Worlds in 2006. At that time, gold medallists included current World Cup stars such as Anna Fenninger (AUT, super-G), Maria Pietilä-Holmer (SWE, slalom), Tina Weirather (LIE, giant slalom) and Marianne Abderhalden (SUI, downhill).
