FIS ISS present at Science and Skiing Congress The 5th International Congress on Science and Skiing is underway at St. Christoph a. Arlberg (AUT) from 14th-19th December, 2010. This is a follow-up conference for the first four international congresses on science and skiing. The first two congresses, as well as the 4th congress, were also held in St. Christoph in 1996, 2000 and 2007, respectively. The third one was organized in Aspen (USA) in 2004. This congress is organized by the Department of Sport Science and Kinesiology and the Christian Doppler Laboratory "Biomechanics in Skiing" of the University of Salzburg and presided over by Erich Müller. Professor Müller is currently also leading projects within the FIS Injury Surveillance System focused on studying the identified main injury risk factors in World Cup Alpine Skiing. The scientific program will offer a broad and interdisciplinary spectrum of current research work in Alpine and Nordic Skiing and Snowboarding. Internationally well-known scientists will present their keynotes and experts from all over the world will discuss their scientific findings in oral and poster presentations. One of the keynotes, entitled "A scientific approach to injury prevention in World Cup Alpine Skiing," will be presented by Roald Bahr and Tone Bere from the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center that led the initial FIS Injury Surveillance System research during the last four seasons.
