FIS MEDIA INFO: Nations' Team Event cancelled in Val d'Isère (FRA) Val d'Isère (FRA), 12 February 2009//- The competition jury has cancelled the Nations Team Event due to the snow conditions on the course following extreme snowfalls and high winds. The avalanche service was forced to close the course for the entire day and night of Tuesday. The Emergency Committee has decided that it will not be possible to re-schedule the competition later in the week and jeopardise the preparation for and/or the organization of one or more of the four technical races on the program, with more snowfalls and winds forecast for the remainder of the week. * * * About FIS Founded in 1924 during the first Olympic Games in Chamonix, France, the International Ski Federation (FIS) aims to promote the sport of skiing and snowboarding and directs the development of all ski and snowboarding activities world-wide.
