Stephanie Brunner suffers a torn ACL for the third time

Austrian alpine skiing star Stephanie Brunner suffered a knee injury last week during giant slalom Training in Ushuaia, Argentina, and she was transported back to Austria to determine the extent of injury.
The MRI examination in Innsbruck over the weekend revealed an anterior ligament tear in the left knee. The 25-year-old was then operated on in the Hochrum Clinic by Dr. Christian Fink on Sunday.
“My first turns on snow in July felt really good, as if I had never been away,” Brunner said. “Even in Argentina, everything went according to plan and my fitness and the knee played perfect. All the more disappointing this diagnosis, but I can not change it and take this challenge again.”
This is the Austrian’s third serious knee injury in less than two years. Brunner first tore her ACL at the 2018 Austrian National Championships and then re-injured the knee this January during giant slalom training in Val di Fassa.
