Denise HERRMANN

START OF THE SPORTING CAREER

•Denise started with Cross-Country Skiing when she was a child
•She was brought to sport by her father, a former handball player
•At the age of 12 she started to study at the sports high school in Oberwiesenthal

CAREER

•In 2005 at the age of 16 she took part in the EYOWF and won the 7,5km competition (free)
•Since the following season Herrmann competed regularly in FIS competitions
•In 2007 she got a one year ban for the use of Clenbuturol. The substance was included in coughing drops.
•Successful comeback in 2008
•In 2009 at the age of 20 she took part in the U23 World Championships in Praz de Lys (FRA) where she narrowly missed the podium in sprint classic
•In February 2009 she debuted in the World Cup in Valdidentro (ITA)
•Since the 2009/2010 season Denise Herrmann appeared regularly on the World Cup
•Breakthrough season last winter with three individual top ten results on the World Cup and five times in the FIS Tour de Ski
•Denise Herrmann ended the successful season as the best German athlete in the Overall World Cup standing (13th place)
•Herrmann has developed in an allround skier being consistent in sprint and distance competitions

PERSONAL

•Her younger sister Nadine is also a successful cross-country skier
•She likes rock climbing, music and knitting
