Are you ready for a spectacular night action of ski cross in Arosa?

After two amazingly successful competitions in Val Thorens (FRA), the World Cup circuit headed north-ost to the 600 km away Swiss Alps more precisely to Arosa. Arosa welcomed us with a beautiful winter wonderland and a well-prepared ski cross course was waiting for our athletes.

What a start into the new season. After four days of amazing weather, whereof one was the first race day of the season, weather wasn`t on our side for the second race day in the beginning. In the morning it was snowing heavily so the race had to be scheduled to 14:00 CET, where we luckily not only had a great race, but where also ski cross history was written.
Sandra Naeslund not only won both races, but more important she now is the most successful ski cross athlete of all time among men and women. With 30 wins she broke the all-time record of 29 victories, Fanny Smith was holding until the end of last season. Bets on how often she will break her own record this season.
Austrians taking both wins on men side. On the first race on Thursday, it was Johannes Rohrweck who grabbed his second World Cup victory and on the second race on Friday it was the 26-year-old Mathias Graf who was standing on top of the podium. It was only Graf’s second World Cup race ever where he straight away showed everyone that he is someone you should have on the list for podiums this season.
Together with Sandra Naeslund (SWE), Mathias Graf (AUT) is now the new World Cup leader.
Arosa definitely is ready for the night event!
The night event in the middle of Arosa town is always one of our highlight races before Christmas. The SX WC in Arosa has really stepped up in a big way, making it for a great show under the flood lights and next to the fire show exactly at prime time.
We will start with the seeding run on Sunday evening, 11 December 2022 to get time trials and have the brackets filled for the finals on Monday, 12 December, where the final round of 64 men and 32 women will start at 18:30 CET. All athletes which are qualified for the final rounds best of 32 men and 16 women will get into the start gates at 20:15 CET which means prime time television for our ski cross athletes!
