Patrick Smith (*1949) has been member of the FIS Council since 2000 and he is currently also the Chair of the FIS Doping Panel. He was named a FIS Vice-President in 2018 at the Congress in Costa Navarino (GRE).
He is the former President of the Canadian Ski Association, former Chairman of the Big Thunder National Training Center as well as past Chairman of the Organizing Committee for several FIS World Cups and the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships held in Thunder Bay in 1995.
An attorney by education, he was appointed a Federal Judge by the Canadian Government in 2001.
Justice Smith is still active as a Master Cross Country competitor and enjoys alpine skiing, mountain biking, sailing, canoeing and tennis. He is married, has three children and lives in Ottawa.
