Today marks -75 days before the start of the Para Snow Sports World Championships 2023. The events will be delivered simultaneously in two countries and three different locations. Para Nordic will be hosted in Östersund (SWE), whereas Para Alpine Skiing and Para Snowboard take place in Espot and La Molina (ESP).
The final preparation for the pinnacle events in Para Snow Sports are in full swing. Last week the Para Alpine, Para Snowboard, and Para Nordic site inspections took place in Espot, La Molina, and Östersund accordingly. All three sites confirmed their commitment and readiness to deliver great events.
Following the success of the 2021 Lillehammer Para Snow Sports World Championships, despite that the events will be delivered in two countries and across three sites, the opening, and closing days will be the same with synchronised timings.
The fine-tuning of the live broadcasting program allows the fans to capture the best moments in all three locations on a daily basis with no delays.
Para Alpine Skiing Race Director statement:
,,The infrastructure of Espot will allow us to use one slope for all 5 events. The Downhill course will be at the minimum standard, which is not ideal. Nevertheless, all other events will be running at World Championships level, which allows the athletes to showcase the Para Alpine Skiing in the best possible light. We are looking forward to delivering great races in Espot, ESP.’’ (Anja Skutelj)
Para Snowboard Race Director statement:
,,La Molina as the venue is well known in the world of snowboarding. It was the host for many Snowboard and Para Snowboard events in the past, including two FIS Snowboard World Championships (WSC) in 2011 and Para Snowboard in 2015. Furthermore, the Dual Banked Slalom event has been previously delivered in La Molina, which brings invaluable experience to this new and exciting Para Snowboard event. La Molina has a great and experienced team, and I am looking forward to the events in January 2023.’’ (Alex Andreis)
Para Nordic Race Director statement:
,,After last season's successful World Cup in Östersund, I am looking forward to the delivery of the World Championships. The LOC presented us with all the plans for staging successful Para Cross-Country Skiing and Para Biathlon events. We are confident that all preparations will be done on a maximum scale prior to the event for a flawless delivery. I am sure that the athletes and teams will have a great time in Östersund.’’ (Georg Zipfel)
For those that were not available for the calls today, here are the three links for each of the sessions: In order to provide later information to the NSA and teams, today were delivered three online sessions hosted by FIS Para Snow Sports Team and LOCs from Östersund and La Molina/Espot.
