In 2016, the Hellenic Winter Sports Association successfully launched the “Seek a SnowFlake” programme and became ninth country to have a nationwide programme to bring children to the snow. Since this time, the programme has built on its strengths and the 2018/2019 will continue that trend.
For the coming season, the programme has confirmed 12 stops in the nationwide tour. At each stop, children will receive a combination of free lessons, transportation to the resort, discounted equipment rental, free lift passes and on snow entertainment. In addition, at each event the children will participate in all three primary forms of snow sports Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding and Cross-Country Skiing with the goal of completing the SnowFlake Passport. The Passport rewards the children for their achievement and promotes a sense of progress as they advance through the various technical ski levels.

It’s been a good year for snow sports in Greece! In May 2018, the Hellenic Winter Sports Association were proud hosts of the 51stInternational Ski Congress at Costa Navarino. Their members supported FIS and FIS Travel Service with the organisation, notably with members of the Athens Ski Club meeting and greeting participants on their arrival at the airport.
The highlight for many FIS Congress participants was the excursion to Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, arranged by the Hellenic Winter Sports Association who also offered a delicious refreshment buffet throughout the visit to this very special, historic location.
