The past weekend saw the fourth and final stage of the annual Children’s Four Hills Tournament in Hinzenbach (AUT). 106 children from four nations fought for victory after stops in Berchtesgaden (GER), Reit im Winkl (GER), Bischofshofen (AUT) and Hinzenbach (AUT). In beautiful autumn weather, young athletes aged seven to eleven competed for the overall victory after the four stops on hills up to HS 48.
In the end, Florentina Moder (AUT, Girls 1), Meghann Wadsak (AUT, Girls 2), Zeno Rumpfinger (GER, K7), Jakob Stieninger (AUT, K8), David Gruber (AUT, K9), Tymoteusz Cienciala (POL, K10) and Jonas Gruber (AUT, K11) took the coveted victories. Cienciala (POL) secured the overall victory for the fourth time in a row.
This year’s edition marked the 20thanniversary of the competition series that has included many famous alumni: Severin Freund (GER), Markus Eisenbichler (GER), Andreas Wellinger (GER), Stefan Kraft (AUT), Gregor Schlierenzauer (AUT) and Michael Hayböck (AUT) all competed at the Children’s Four Hills Tournament in their youth.
Hayböck and Eisenbichler awarded winners with their prizes this year. “The Children’s Four Hills Tournament was something very special for me back in the day, we felt a little bit like real Four Hills Tournament winners. In this age group, there are not many international competitions. It was great to have this final here at the same time as our Summer Grand Prix event. I think it was very motivating for the kids to have World Cup athletes as spectators at their events. It is a great event and very important for the ski jumping youth”, Hayböck said after the event.
